3 May & Mother's Day

On Saturday, 17 May there was a lot going on in our school. From the early morning 30-minute workshops took place in every group ran by Mr Marcin
Dominik Głuch, Polish pianist and composer. Workshops introduced pupils into the subject of old, traditional dances and Polish folk music. That was a great opportunity to learn about the origins of dances such as polka, waltz, polonez and to listen to some old Polish sons performed by “Mazowsze”-Polish Folk Group of Song and Dance. Later during the school show Mr Głuch played a piano concert for pupils, parents and all guests.
On the previous day (Friday 16 May) Mr Głuch conducted workshops and played a piano concert for pupils of St Bernadette’s Primary School. This encounter with the Polish pianist met with a lot of interest from pupils, teachers and the head teacher of St. Bernadette’s. Pupils and teachers of the School of Polish Language and Culture would like to say 'thank you' to our guest for this special encounter with Polish classical and folk music.
Later on Saturday two school shows took place. Group 4 (under the supervision of Mrs Marzena Łyczko-Łuczak) prepared a show celebrating an anniversary of the first Polish Constitution. The performance reminded us about the historic events that took place on the 3rd of May 1791. Up next were pupils from group 1 (supervised by Ms Magdalena Roz and Mrs Joanna Zelewska). This was dedicated to all mothers for the upcoming on 26th May Mother’s Day. Pupils prepared songs, poems, performed a story about a small frog and a poem about a forgetful mum. Mr Fryderyk Karauda played the music and prepared all the songs with pupils attending afterschool music group. At the end of the show all mothers received roses, beautiful, handmade cards and wishes from their sons and daughters.
